Camel Riding - The Bedouin Way
Riding the "Ships of the Desert"
Enjoy a unique experience riding a camel and exploring Wadi Rum's desert the Bedouin Way. Camels are often referred to as the "Ships of the Desert" and they were and continue to be an integral and important part of the Bedouin Life! Desert and Camels belong together, like water in the sea and it was the way to move long distances. Camel caravans moved from East to West, from North to South and vice versa with their trade goods. A hundred years ago the English officer known as Lawrence of Arabia rode on a camel together with the Bedouins, to liberate Jordan from the Ottomans. Lawrence is still present in Wadi Rum...
...so swing on a camel on his footsteps!!! Indulge in the camels' slow pace and the vast openness of the desert and feel the stillness of time....
It is important to us that our home is protected and preserved for future generations so we encourage those who are eco conscious to walk and travel by camel wherever possible when visiting Wadi Rum.
