About Wadi Rum

Everybody has heard that the desert holds a certain magic, but it isn't until you are there, that someone understands what people mean by that. Wadi Rum is a place that echoes with laughter and jeep roars by day and where you hear the void of the desert by night. It’s a place that matts your hair and stains your cheeks orange with dirt, but leaves you overwhelmingly happy at the end of the day. It’s a place where the earth glows red under the sun and where you can gaze up countless stars that twinkle in the midnight sky. A place that T.E. Lawrence (better known as Lawrence of Arabia) described in his notes as

“Vast, Echoing and God-like".

Wadi Rum, known as the "Valley of the Moon", is one of the most astonishing desertscapes on earth! A journey to this ancient landscape is a journey to a vast, silent and timeless place. Experienced travellers from around the world are astonished by its immense beauty and offering. It is the home to one of the most hospitable Bedouin tribes in the region who take great pride in hosting guests and offer them an insight of the Bedouin life and culture, as hospitality is seen as a great honor. Bedouins are life artists when it comes to doing everything with attention, in harmony and pure simplicity and are experts in navigating through the desert anytime of the day.

In the valley you can find an unspoiled and varied desert landscape consisting of high sand dunes, rocky mountains with incredible shapes, narrow canyons with amazing color shades, impressive rock arches, towering cliffs, caverns, 4,000-year-old rock engravings and many other wonderful treasures. The inscriptions of Anfishiyyeh are there to remind us that these areas have been inhabited for millennia.

Wadi Rum Protected Area is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is an ideal location for adventurers and off-roaders, with plenty of places to hike, trek or climb and for all fitness levels. Advanced climbers can test their skills by ascending Jordan's highest mountain, Jabal Rum. Having said that, Wadi Rum is not only for the adventure seekers, is for Everybody who is seeking to absorb the special atmosphere of Wadi Rum’s heartland, the vast openness of the desert, the breathtaking sunset behind the mountains, the amazing starlit night sky and the Serenity that all these bring!!
